Our dog Sugar has passed away at the ripe old age of 17yrs. She is missed!
We do have a new Bichon Frise named Jessie and is a God send. She doesn't replace our Sugar, but has a great personality all her own!
About Sugar:
While volunteering at the Oakland SPCA, my wife, Sandy, came across Bichon Frise (pronounced bee-shawn freesay) that was given-up by it's owners. Her name was Sugar, and she would not do anything, but shake in her cage. She was not friendly to anyone-especially to men. The humane society decided that it would be best to put her down. At that time, Sandy came into her life. When Sandy came into the area, Sugar jumped up and responded favorably to her. Sandy was the only one that Sugar responded to !!!
The rest...as they say...was history!
This breed is a domestic companion that ressembles a Minature Poodle. It is a descendent of the Barbet (or Water Spaniel). The Bichon became established in the French royal court society of the Sixteenth century. The 'TOY' poodle was the product of cross-breeding the Bichon with Miniture Poodles.
